HR and recruitment, business, history, law, crafts and utilities are the areas I mostly work in but I've also got experience in finance, customer service, beauty, housing, manufacturing and fiction.
I'm an NCTJ-qualified journalist with over 25 years' experience as a writer and editor. I've been a freelancer since 2001, mostly working on employee newspapers, magazines and intranets but I also write handbooks and white papers. Many of my clients have been with me for years because they value my ability to get to grips with a subject quickly, attention to detail, willingness to challenge assumptions and ability to dissolve into giggles without much provocation.
I'm good at metaphorical juggling too: my most ambitious feat was to combine freelance writing with a full-time law degree; these days I'm combining writing with cross stitch design, which is slightly less onerous (no exams).
I've also worked extensively in the internal communications sphere, so I have experience in the strategic planning of multi-channel communications along with delivering them. Most of my writing work is done through email or telephone interviews.
Winner of numerous national and regional awards for writing and editing, including the 2009 Institute of Internal Communication's Freelancer of the Year award.
